Gilbert (Gil) Floyd Spooner, age 63, of Fowlstown, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mr. Spooner will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

     Gil Spooner was born August 14, 1960 in Bainbridge to Henry Byron Spooner and Mary Coleen McRae Spooner.  He was a kind man that made friends easily and often.  He loved to hunt and fish.  Gil was a good problem solver and a hard worker; those things made him a talented maintenance employee for Georgia Industry for the Blind.  Gil was a simple man with simple wants and needs, just his family and his friends. He will be deeply missed.

    Gilbert F. Spooner is survived by his mother, Mary Coleen Spooner of Fowlstown; sister, Susan Gunnin (Victor) of Tyrone, Georgia; special companion, Cindy Barlow of Fowlstown; chosen daughter, Amber Johnson of Fowlstown; and nieces, Morgan and Victoria Gunnin.  He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Hank Spooner.
