Beverly Gail Allen was born June 10, 1949, in Albany, GA, the daughter of Leonard “Red” & Essie Knight Allen. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1968. Beverly trained at Albany Technical College and earned her LPN. She nursed for over 45 years, retiring from Dr. Charles Walker’s practice. She was an active member of Climax Baptist Church.
Beverly was a godly woman constantly willing to share her faith. She studied her Bible daily and put into practice what she learned. She was empathetic and caring, an angel when she needed to be but an “officer” otherwise.
No one doubted the goodness of sitting at Beverly’s table, and she was never without a little something to share if you came in hungry. In fact, her door was always open. Her family was her crown jewel and noted the legacy of love she leaves. Red birds were her favorite, and those who knew her well will smile at each sighting knowing it symbolizes Beverly watching over them.
Survivors include her children, Rob Boyd (Susan), Dena Godwin (Larry), and Carl F. “Chip” Davis III (Jonas), all of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Zackery, Lance, and Emily; her great-grandchildren, Maddilynn and Kailee; her sister, Betty A. Weaver of Climax; her canine companion, Mia; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Carl Davis, Jr.; and her siblings, Carlton Knight, Jean Allen, Dixie Duncan, and Little Red Allen.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
