Mr. Mark Joseph Crine, age 79, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in Newnan, Georgia. Services for Mr. Crine will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 107 Randolph Street, Bainbridge, Georgia. Fr. Tomas Beroch will officiate. Joe will be interred beside his parents in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, May 5, 5:00-7:00 p.m., in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.

Joe Crine was born May 19, 1944 in Long Branch, New Jersey to William Peter Crine and Carrie Wight Crine. A graduate of West Georgia College, he worked as a newspaper reporter for the Post Searchlight for 46 years. He loved the Bainbridge community and has written thousands of stories of the successes and efforts of Decatur County youth throughout his long tenure. Joe received numerous honors and certificates for his tireless dedication to Decatur County school clubs, bands, and organizations and was inducted into the Decatur County Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He was a member of the Bainbridge Lion’s Club and a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. After his move from Bainbridge, he attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, Georgia. Joe was a kind, caring person and will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends.

Mark Joseph Crine is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Cheryl Crine of Sharpsburg, Georgia; nieces and nephews, William Crine and wife, Amelia of Sharpsburg, Jennifer Crine of Phenix City, Alabama, Matthew Crine of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Lincoln, Evangeline, Lola, and Graeme.
