“One thing I haven’t been able to praise enough this whole season is our defense,” said Cougars’ head coach Jonothan Pritchard. “I know you can’t tell by the score, but our defense has been solid all year.”

The loss marks the end of the season for a handful of Cougar players. The GCA team was made up of players as young as sixth graders and as old as high school seniors. The high schoolers on the team bid the season farewell, as the team has just two middle school games left on the schedule.

“I had a lot of fun coaching those guys,” Pritchard said. “Just seeing them develop and improve as players, It’s been a lot of fun.”

With the majority of the team being in middle school, Pritchard said he’s looking forward to seeing how the budding soccer program at GCA grows.

“This is a brand new program, we’re still trying to get it started,” Pritchard said. “It means games like this, that’ll hopefully get there. Hopefully, we’ll get our name out there and build some momentum going into next season… I’ve got a lot of high hopes for this team the next few years.
