Freshman Gymcat Aniston Brown placed first overall at an eight-team meet on Mar. 13. She scored an 8.800 on vault, 8.150 on bars, 7.950 on beam, and 8.500 on the floor to give her a total score of 33.400.

“She placed first out of probably 65 people,” said Gymcats’ head coach Brooke Vickers. “Which is amazing.”

On top of the win, Brown is one solid performance on the beam away from qualifying for the event at states. Gymnasts need to score an 8.500 or higher on the beam at three separate meets in the regular season to qualify for the event at states. Brown has two performances above that mark and has two meets left to get another one.

Sisters, junior Bansi Patel and freshman Dhara Patel also represented Bainbridge at the meet. Dhara scored 8.600 on vault, 7.200 on bars, 6.800 on beam, and 7.700 on the floor giving her a final score of 33.000.

“[Dhara] had an amazing night,” Vickers said.

Bansi was unable to compete in all four events due to an injury suffered from a fall during her floor routine. She scored a 6.350 on bars, 7.100 on beam, and 6.275 on the floor to give her a total score of 19.725

“[Bansi] has such a wonderful work ethic,” Vickers said. “It was her turn on vault, and she was like, ‘I’m OK, I can do vault,’ and we were like, ‘Girl, sit down. You are not doing vault, you just landed on the back of your neck.’”
