Charlotte Elaine Lovering was born October 1, 1956, in Donalsonville, GA, the daughter of Lemuel & Sarah Barber Lovering. She was a graduate of Miller County High School. Charlotte married the love of her life, Gene Atkinson, in 1977, and they made their home in South GA. She was Baptist by faith.

Charlotte was quite a character. She always looked at the bright side of things and encouraged others to forgive and love. Sometimes Charlotte would tell a joke, much to the chagrin of her children, prefaced with “Of course I can tell this. I’m grown.” Her advice was spot on and doled out with a heart of compassion. She enjoyed cooking, especially for her family & friends, with the mindset of “the more the merrier”. Coke Zero and sweet tea were available at all times with no limits. Charlotte was an animal lover…one animal…Stella.

Survivors include her children, Jessica A. Hart (Jason) and Jeremy Atkinson (Jenna) all of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Lindsey, Reece, and Carter; her sister-in-law, Karen Lovering of Donalsonville; her beloved dog, Stella; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Floyd Eugene “Gene” Atkinson, and her siblings, Joey Lovering and Dana Cook.
