Funeral services for Eugene Harrell, 83, of Climax, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  President Gilbert Valter will officiate.  Private interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Climax, GA.  Mr. Harrell passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Webb, Jeffrey Lambert, Jordan Ortiz, Michael Harrell, Robert Harrell and Johnny Lambert.

Mr. Harrell was born on May 7, 1940, in Whigham, GA, to the late Allen Carlos Harrell and the late Abbie Lee Sadler Harrell.  On June 16, 1990, he married Margaret Corley, who survives.  He was carpenter and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He attended schools mostly in Decatur County around the Mt. Pleasant community and Climax.  Eugene joined the US Army in 1958.  He served in Korea, Germany and Viet Nam.  Later, he joined the US Air Force, where he served in Washington State and Alaska.  All together, he served twelve years in the military.  He was a good son, loving husband, father and friend, and was always there to help those in need.

Survivors include:  his wife, Margaret Corley Harrell of Climax, GA; children, Michael Eugene Harrell of Cairo, GA and Tammy Teresa Harrell Barrow of Whigham, GA; step-children, Donald Lee Johnson and Mary Ellen Johson, both of Climax, GA; grandchildren, Michael Scott Harrell of Climax, GA, Jordan Bailey Ortiz of Whigham, GA, Darby Brooke Barrow Smith (Tanner) of Thomasville, GA, Paula Kay Harrell and Delilah Gaye Harrell, both of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Dawn Glover, Aspen Jade Smith and Girard James Smith, all of Thomasville, GA; siblings, Ronell Moore (Frank) and Gail Lambert, both of Bainbridge, GA, Florine Ingram (Don) and Debra Corley both of Cairo, GA, Robert Harrell (Vicki) of Lake Seminole, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Randolph Harrell and Patricia Hall; and a brothers-in-law, Daniel Corley, Junior Corley and Eddie Lambert.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
