Mr. Archie Jerome Dodson, age 85, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida.   Services for Mr. Dodson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, graveside at the Beulah Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. David Grubbs will officiate.  Michael Crawley, Wade Kelley, Eric Duke, Glenn Dodson, Davis Dodson, and Dan Solomon will serve as pallbearers.  Brett Benninghoff, Tim Dodson, and the Deacons of  Beulah Thomas Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at 10:00 in Beulah Thomas Baptist Church.

 Archie Jerome Dodson was born April 29, 1938 in Fowlstown, Georgia.  His parents Carson Truell Dodson and Virgieleen Mills Dodson have preceded him in death.  Archie was raised in Fowlstown but spent many, many hours with his dad in his dad’s barber shop, the Bon Aire.  By the time he was 16 years old he had a license and was cutting hair himself.  If you wanted the straightest flat-top in town, you used Archie.  He cut hair from 1956 to1970.  Archie married Alice Corley Dodson and shared life with her for 59 years.  Alice preceded him in death October 7, 2020.  Archie loved to farm and always had a garden.  He took his talent for gardening to May Nurseries and retired from there.  Archie loved to fish.  He was a member of the Masonic Orion #8 for over 50 years.  Archie will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

Mr. Dodson is survived by his children: William “Chinky” Dodson and wife, Kim Dodson, of Calvary, Georgia and Berry C. Dodson and wife, Dr. Tracy Champagne Dodson, of Cairo, Georgia; his sister, Linda Kay Griffin (James) of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Brian Dodson, Ashleigh Evans (Seth), Matthew Dodson (Kennedy), Cody Revels (Jocelyn); and great-grandchildren Taylar Dodson, Paisley Evans, Liam Revels and Tinsley Revels.

 The family would like to thank Mr. Dodson’s caregiver, Annie Green, for taking excellent care of him.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Beulah Thomas Baptist Church, c/o Nelda Moore, 3208 Tired Creek Road, Whigham, Georgia 39897.
