Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

My name is Scott Ewing, and my wife, Monica, and I have three kids: John Austin (7), Caroline (6) and Adam (4). I am the President and CEO of First Port City Bank, where I have worked since 2010. I began my banking career after graduating from Valdosta State University in 2000. My first year in banking was spent as a drive-thru teller, and I have worked through most of the departments within the bank. During my tenure, I also graduated from the GBA Banking School at UGA and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Before my current position, I spent 15 years in lending. I love working for a true community bank that provides the opportunity to really know your customers, allows flexibility in meeting their needs, and truly encourages community engagement.

I grew up fishing and hunting with my grandad, and I now spend as much time as I can passing that tradition down to my kids. We love spending time at the coast or on the farm. These days we’re busy with the kids playing baseball, dancing, and playing soccer. We also enjoy serving at Grace Church.

I moved to Bainbridge for a new job in 2006, and now I am proud to call this my home. I didn’t really know anyone when I moved here, so I became active in the chamber of commerce to network and meet new people. I was immediately impressed with the level of involvement and support from the community, and it further motivated me to serve more. Since then, I have had the privilege to serve through the Chamber of Commerce (past Chairman), Family Connection (current Chairman), Memorial Hospital Foundation (current Chairman), the YMCA (Past President), The Salvation Army (past Chairman), the Decatur County School’s Foundation (current Chairman), and the Gilbert H Gragg Library Foundation (current Treasurer). Somehow, I was never able to say no to Charles Tyson when he asked me to serve. I am forever grateful for the experience and opportunities to serve alongside so many wonderful business and community leaders.

It’s been amazing seeing the progress that has been made in Bainbridge over the years. When I first saw the downtown square, it reminded me of my small South Georgia hometown with mostly empty buildings that were in rough condition. I had my doubts that it would ever bounce back, but the transformation has been unbelievable. Bainbridge has so much to offer, and it keeps getting better. I feel very blessed to be able to raise my family in such a great community.
