Joyce A. Wollam, age 87, passed away on January 19, 2024, at her home in Cairo, Georgia.  Ms. Wollam was born on May 6,1936 in Homestead, Florida to Orlando John Wollam and Inez Collins Wollam. 

Joyce, better known as the “Butterfly Lady”, enjoyed anything relating to butterflies. She had a collection of butterfly items and enjoyed them in her yard and garden during the summer.  She was the long-time caregiver for her mother who lived to be 103 years old. The two of them shared many special times including being a member of the Garden Club in Cairo.  Prior to caring for her mother, she worked at Humana Hospital in the food services department.  She loved to read, but her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren with whom she shared many special times.  Ms. Wollam was a Christian lady who was Baptist by faith.

Ms. Wollam is survived by her son, Mike Orme and his wife, Cindy of Cairo, Georgia and her grandchildren: Lacey Smith (Lee), Sarah Scoggin (Dustin), Tiffany Luke (Daniel), Kassie Young, and Nathan Godwin as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Collins of Tennessee.

 She was predeceased by her parents as well as her son, Jerry Orme, and her daughter, Kristina Godwin.

 Joyce enjoyed living at Riverside Place in Bainbridge, Georgia for the past 18 months.  The family wants to thank the staff for the love and compassion they lavished on Joyce.

A graveside service will be planned for a later date. Ms. Wollam will be buried with her family in Cairo City Cemetery
