Local residents be aware, severe weather is predicted to begin this evening and last into tomorrow afternoon. The weather system began bringing blizzards to the West over the weekend, referred to as Winter Storm Finn. As it moves East, the storm is expected to bring rain and heavy winds, with a potential for tornadoes and flash flooding in areas. A wind advisory has been put into effect from 8:00 PM tonight until 5:00 PM tomorrow.

In response to the severe conditions, the Decatur County School system has cancelled school for tomorrow. Classes will resume normally on Wednesday. Occasional showers and thunderstorms are forecast intermittently throughout the rest of the week, but none are predicted to be as serious as Tuesday’s.
