Gerald Craig “Pete” Rentz, 73, of Newton died Monday, December 25, 2023 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Notchaway Baptist Church Cemetery in Baker County.  Dr. John Cook will officiate.

Born October 25, 1950 in Bainbridge, GA, Mr. Rentz was the son of the late Welton Lee Rentz and Annie Ruth Tucker Rentz.  He was married to the late Cecilia Ann Maples Rentz and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Rentz and Woody Rentz.  Mr. Rentz was a carpenter/contractor.  He had previously worked as a deputy sheriff in Baker County.

Survivors include his daughter, Mandy Rentz Culverson (Stevens) of Bainbridge;  two grandchildren, Mills Hornsby and Allee Hornsby;  step-son, Stacy Ethridge; two step-daughters, Sherina Courson and Kimberly Wright;  numerous step-grandchildren;  six sisters, Dot Porter, Linda Hudson, Marilyn Hodges, Martha English,  Gloria Throneberry, and Jan Roach;  numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
