Members of the Bainbridge Rotary Club gathered at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday for their weekly meeting. The guest speaker of the day was Rotary District Governor André Hadley Marria. Marria began her presentation with a video from Rotary International about the club’s commitment to mental health.
Following this video, the district governor gave a brief overview of her history, from her troubled years as a teenager and turning her life around, to becoming involved in Rotary. “I was broken, but somewhere along the line, someone threw me a lifeline,” she said, “and that’s what Rotary does in the world. We create hope in the world. We help those who are in need, who are broken.”
Marria also discussed the importance of membership, building relationships, and the giving of money for Rotary’s various humanitarian efforts, among other subjects.
Following the governor’s presentation, the club held a pinning ceremony for two new club members, Tim Spooner and KaCee Holt.
