Members of the Memories Car Club took to spreading some holiday cheer Monday morning, paying a visit to local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to deliver Christmas cookies to the residents. This has become a yearly tradition for the club, this year marking the sixth year.

The day began with delivering cookies to Memorial Manor, followed by Bainbridge Health and Rehab, and lastly Riverside Place. The club purchased 150 tubs of cookies this year, with the cookies being specifically chosen with consideration for any dietary concerns the residents may have. For those residents that could not have cookies no matter what, pudding was provided instead. First National Bank, which had previously sponsored the event last year, once again sponsored it this year.

Club member Denise Webb spoke with the Post-Searchlight about the effort. She thanked First National Bank for their support, specifically president Brad Barber, “We appreciate Brad doing it again this year, and giving us support.” In addition to sponsoring the event, several First National Bank staff also came out to help deliver the cookies to residents. They described it as a humbling experience.

“We enjoy doing this,” Webb said, “and we do it every year, because these are shut-ins that don’t get to get out to have Christmas, a lot of them. We want to be part of their Christmas, and wish them a Merry Christmas.”
