Following their participation in the Bainbridge Veteran’s Day ceremony on Friday, Don and Patti Fabian would return to At Ease Campground to hold their own Veteran’s Day festivities on Saturday. This began with a flag retirement ceremony at sunset, followed by live music provided by the Caliber Band, with BBQ dinner plates served to raise funds for the Recovery Fire Department.

Sunday saw teams depart from the At Ease Marina to participate in the Veterans Grand Slam Fishing tournament. There were four categories for teams to compete in, with each team having a veteran aboard the boat. Ricky Glitch and his team took first place in the bass category; Megan Lengerich and her team took first place in the catfish category; the team of Nick and Gray Jeter and Paul Tyre took first in the panfish category; and Chris and Blake Merritt took first in the junk fish category. Lengerich also won the grand slam as well.

While the teams fished, raffles and other events were held at the marina and campground.

“We’re very honored by the support we received,” Patti Fabian told the Post-Searchlight. “We felt very blessed by the community coming out to support us and our operation.” A portion of the funds raised from the event will support the Fabian’s veteran-focused organization, Operation At Ease, as well as the veteran’s non-profit Forty and Eight, which also helped sponsor the event.
