Bearcats shut Hawks out in Hardaway win

The Bearcats beat the Hardaway Hawks 42-0 in Odis Spencer Stadium. The win puts them at 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in the region.

“Feels great to get a win,” said Bearcats’ Head Coach Jeff Littleton. “We executed what we had planned… I’m proud of the kids for their discipline.

Senior running back Keenan Phillips had a standout performance with 3 touchdowns on the night.

“He’s just one vital part of our offensive scheme,” Littleton said. “He’s a great competitor.”

Phillips opened the game with a kickoff return touchdown on the first kick. His touchdown set the tone of the first half, and the Bearcats scored five total touchdowns in the half. 

Phillips had three scores, Senior wide receiver Antavious Murphy scored a receiving touchdown from senior quarterback Cam Sanders, who had a rushing touchdown in the half as well.

The Bearcats tacked on seven more points in the second half courtesy of a Senior wide receiver Darious 

The Bearcats were all over the Hawks, keeping them from putting together a scoring drive and recording a shutout.

“We’re playing with more discipline,” Littleton said.

Up next for the Bearcats is long-standing rival Cario. The teams have faced off 78 times, and Bainbridge owns the series by one win. The series record is Bainbridge 36 wins, Cairo 35 wins, and seven ties between the two. 

Bainbridge kicks off against Cairo at home on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
