UPDATE: Ebony Brooks Jr. has been charged with felony murder in connection to the homicide of 19-year-old Cameron Walker. Brooks was booked Tuesday, Dec. 12, and has a posted court date of Mar. 12, 2024.

UPDATE: The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released the identity of the victim as 19-year-old Bainbridge resident Cameron Walker. The cause of death has been identified as a gunshot. The investigation is still ongoing; anyone with information is encouraged to contact GBI (229-225-4090) or Bainbridge Public Safety (229-248-2038).

A dead body was reported in a vacant lot off Monroe Street early Tuesday morning. A passing citizen reported the cadaver to law enforcement just before 8:00 AM; GBI took over the investigation, with Bainbridge Public Safety and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office assisting on the scene. According to GBI, the incident is being investigated as a homicide. The victim has been identified, but their identity is being withheld until the family has been notified.
