The members of Bainbridge Lions Club have installed officers for the year 2023 – 2024.  Lion Christy Wray of the Camilla Lions Club, and rising Governor for Lions MD -18 District O, visited the Bainbridge Club to formally recognize the elected leaders of our local club.  She reminded Club members and leaders of their responsibilities and the Lions obligation to serve.

The Bainbridge Lions Club is actively engaged in service to residents of Decatur County, as well as to persons around the globe through Lions International.  Vision care is a primary focus; Georgia Lions Clubs assist with arrangements for vision care ranging from vision exams and eyeglasses to cataract surgery or other complex procedures.  Eyeglasses no longer in use are collected, cleaned and sorted, and provided to free vision clinics in third world countries. In a recent year, Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) Global Service provided $9.6 million in support of cataract surgeries around the world.  Disaster Relief is another major focus, as reflected by $146 million in disaster relief provided by LCIF.

Lions are also responsive to the needs of persons who are blind or dealing with seriously impaired vision.  At the Georgia Lions Camp in Waycross,
Georgia, Lions provide recreational programs that are enjoyed by individuals who have impaired sight.  The Bainbridge Club donated equipment to the Camp to ensure that movies shown there have audio description; this tells campers — who can’t see the movies screen – about the action on the screen.  The Club also seeks to support and collaborate with organizations that are meeting needs in our community, such as The Salvation Army, the Gragg Library, the CASA program, the REACH scholarship and Special Olympics.  These programs add to the quality of life for persons throughout our community.
