Winston Earl Kelly was born April 19, 1947, in Bainbridge, the son of Thomas & Louise Shelton Kelly. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a carpenter by trade spending many hours on residential construction projects. Sonny was Baptist by faith.

It was said there was nothing about the Flint River Sonny didn’t know. He knew every “honey hole” for catching fish, and every bend to get a thrill on water skis. Sonny taught his children, their friends, and some of his friends how to ski. And not only did he know about the river, for years Sonny was the go-to guy to keep your boat or vehicle running in the Flint River Heights area. During the winter months, he enjoyed deer hunting and took every opportunity to share his commentary on how to bag a whitetail.

Survivors include his children, Michelle Rusk (Matthew) of Foley, AL, and Kristy Meagher (Ben Lamoreaux) of Apopka, FL; his grandchildren, Joseph, Cameron, Haley, Kristina, Chris, Ashely, and Austin; his great-grandchildren, Sonny, Kinsley, Lakin, Draike, and Kamden; and his siblings, Betty K. Martin (Winston), Frances K. Hatton (Herman), and Frankie Kelly, all of Bainbridge. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents.
