Lindsey Lashley was awarded the DAISY Award at a Memorial Hospital and Manor (MHM) board meeting.

Members of MHM’s board met Tuesday to acknowledge Lashley’s accomplishment, go over financial reports and discuss the state of the hospital and ongoing renovations.

“Lindsey is one of our great ER nurses,” said Hospital Board Chairperson Glennie Bench. “She does a great job for us in there.”

A patient (unnamed due to HIPAA compliance) said Lashley gave them “excellent” care while in the ER. They said she gave them medicine slowly and with care and helped them to the bathroom, ensuring they didn’t fall.

“When people are sick and feeling at their worst, it’s good to come to a place that has nurses like Lindsey to make them feel good,” Bench said. “She’s someone who really cares.”

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who “go above and beyond to not only provide patients and families with excellence in clinical care but also compassion,” according to the Daisy Foundation website.

Nurses are nominated for the award by patients, doctors, nurses, and anyone who thinks the nurse deserves recognition. Nominations are blinded and sent to an internal committee at the hospital. The committee reads and scores the nominations based on the nurse’s level of compassion and excellence.

You can nominate a nurse by clicking the DAISY Award link on the mh-m.org homepage.
