At the end of the 2023 soccer regular season, junior forward Brock Williams was approached by his coach. Head Soccer Coach Brian Hill showed him an email on his phone that read, “You’ve been invited to the Georgia All-Star Game.”

Williams said he was not aware that he was even in the running to be chosen.

“Honestly, I was a little bit overwhelmed,” Williams said. “I was just really excited because I didn’t even know about it.”

Williams ended the season as the 4A region’s top goal scorer. With 31 goals on the season, he averaged more than one per game. He said he’s thankful for his teammates and that they helped him reach that No. 1 spot. Williams was a team player, too, finishing second on the team with 15 assists.

Coach Hill said he was proud of Williams and glad he got recognition for an efficient season.

“It’s always good for a player to get recognized on your team,” Hill said. “It shows, hopefully, the progress that Bainbridge has made in soccer. It helps to be recognized on the state level.”

Williams traveled to Dalton, GA, for the All-Star game. He and 36 other all-stars played against each other. Two teams were assembled, drafting players one by one — Williams was picked second.

“It was kind of humbling to see, like, ‘Wow, this competition here is really good.”

He said most of the competition was from the Atlanta area. His teammates, freshman Jose Bonilla-Ortiz and senior Dax Willis were selected to the 2nd and 3rd teams respectively. Bonilla-Ortiz finished the season with 24 goals and 17 assists. Willis, the goalkeeper, finished the season with 52 saves and a shutout in 65% of games.
