Downtown Bainbridge grew just a little bit more this week, as another new business opened up: Karan’s Korner. Located on the corner of Water Street and Clark Street, the new business is owned by Bainbridge resident Karan Barber. While having worked with Barber Fertilizer since marrying her husband Ronald Barber, this is the first time she has run her own business. “This is all new to me,” she told the Post-Searchlight, “but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”

Karan’s Korner offers, as Barber describes it, an “eclectic mix” of products, ranging from an assortment of teas, to bath salts, wine, cheese and charcuterie board ingredients, and even a few antique items. When entering the store, customers are first greeted by a sampler of the store’s various teas to smell. Barber first approached the city about opening the business in January of this year, with the store having its soft opening on Wednesday. While only having been open a few days, Barber stated business has already been good. “Yesterday was a very good day, because I haven’t advertised at all… I was very pleased with yesterday. If the rest of the days do like yesterday I’ll be quite happy!”

Barber specifically wanted her business downtown, based on the foot traffic and complimentary shops and boutiques located downtown. “I just love Bainbridge, I think it’s a beautiful town, and I love to see the way it’s growing and expanding,” she said. “It’s such a unique town, and I wanted a unique shop to go with the uniqueness of Bainbridge.”
