Martha Louise Moore was born February 18, 1959, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Hilton & Pauline Hall Moore. She earned an associate degree at Bainbridge College, a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southwestern, and a master’s degree from Walden University. Though Louise spent most of her life in Southwest Georgia, she moved to Metro Atlanta twenty years ago. She retired as a kindergarten teacher at Susan Stripling Elementary School. Louise attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Snellville.
Family was always important to Louise. She married young and never let an obstacle become a stumbling block. Louise loved children and worked with them on all levels from home daycare to public school classrooms. Most of her college coursework was completed while encouraging her own children in pursuit of their college degrees. She certainly kept them on their toes, and life was described as “never a dull moment”. Outside of the classroom, Louise enjoyed shopping QVC & HSN, exercising in her home gym, reading, and Bible study.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Gerry Bagtas; her children, Jennifer Ard of Bainbridge and Eric Maxwell of Duluth; her grandchildren, Mason, Madelyn, Jaycee, Caroline, and Charlieann; her siblings, Joyce Moore of Sharpsburg and John Moore (Teresa) of Newton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Lynwood Maxwell, and her son, Heith Maxwell.
