Jewel Humphries Singleton, 92, of Climax, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as active pallbearers.

Jewel Laverne Humphries was born April 18, 1931, in Grady County, GA, the daughter of Clinton & Susie Mae Palmer Humphries. She graduated from high school in Palmetto, FL but lived most of her life in Southwest Georgia. Jewel married George Lester Singleton in 1951. She retired as a supervisor for Ithaca Industries and was a member of Climax Baptist Church.

Jewel’s sweet and kind demeanor drew you right into her circle. She doted on her children and grandchildren and loved many others as her own. Jewel lived a simple life enjoying working in her yard, crocheting, and completing puzzles. Cooking for her family was a gift of love enjoyed and cherished the memories made around the table.

Survivors include her children, Don Singleton & Roxie Bailey of Climax, Debra Jones of Slocumb, AL, and Derry & Phyllis Singleton of Tifton; her grandchildren, Heather & Matt, Dana & Broc, Chance & Taylor, Mollie & Rick, Lauren & Cal, and Austin; her seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Hulon Humphries, Jeanette Shiver, Mary Sue Hickey, Charles Humphries, and Connie Mayer. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jewel was preceded in death by her siblings, Christine Willis and G.L. Humphries, and her son-in-law, Russell Jones.
