Another new business has opened its doors in Downtown Bainbridge: The Bronze Bar. Located at 231 S Broad Street, this new tanning salon is owned and operated by Sage Cumbie. According to Cumbie, she spent all of high school and some time afterwards working at a tanning salon, and had always wanted to open her own. It wasn’t until this year that she was able to make that dream a reality.

“It took us just about, from finding the building, putting everything together and all that, probably a month or so to get everything together,” Cumbie said.

With no other suppliers in the state and the only other nearest ones in Florida, Cumbie found a supplier for tanning beds in north Georgia. Since opening, the Bronze Bar has been very busy, though according to Cumbie, the longer it’s been open, the more business has evened off. “People’s lunch break is busy, about 5:00 to 6:30 when they get off work is busy, so I think people started coming and knew what times were busy, and what time they would be able to get in, so it’s kind of plateaued out.”

While there other options for tanning in the area, Cumbie didn’t feel like there was necessarily any competition between her and other salons. “We are a tanning salon, there are other places to tan,” she said, “but I’ve always told my girls, if anyone comes in here, our customer service will stand out. No matter what we offer, we will have good customer service.”

“We’re very excited to be downtown,” she concluded. “We had an opportunity at another building to go there, but we chose this building specifically because downtown is growing and we wanted to be a part of that… we wanted to be here, to be a part of downtown.”

The Bronze Bar is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday.
