Graveside funeral services for John Alford Lodge, Jr., 69, of Whigham, Ga., are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, Ga.  Rev. David Cook will officiate.  Mr. Lodge passed away at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham, Ga., on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Mr. Lodge was born on June 23, 1953, in Thomasville, Ga., to the late John Alford Lodge, Sr. and Eva Royals Lodge.  He was self-employed as a housing contractor and a member of the Whigham Baptist Church.  John spent many years helping with the Whigham Community Club and was a snake wrangler for the Rattlesnake Roundup.  He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and collecting Native American artifacts.       

Survivors include: brothers, Dr. Charles Gary Lodge (Carolyn) of Hendersonville, N.C., James Randal Lodge (Lynda) of Whigham, Ga., Timothy Alan Lodge of Moultrie, Ga.; niece and nephews, Jonathan Lodge (Shayla) of Richmond Hill, Ga., Jennifer Lodge Whigham, Ga., Josh Lodge of Ochlocknee, Ga.; great-nieces, Ryleigh, Willow, Krissa and Everly.        

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, Michael Lodge and Christopher Lodge.     

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Lodge’s memory to: Whigham Baptist Church, P. O. Box 83, Whigham, GA 39897; or the Whigham Community Club, c/o Demetrius Cox, 1262 Old Highway 84, Whigham, GA 39897.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at graveside.
