Benny L. Haire was born June 21, 1957, to the late Dan and Ethel W. Haire. Benny attended Miller Co. schools through the 11th grade while working on the family farm with his father and brothers, after which he moved to Thomas County, Ga, where he learned roofing and construction.

In 1990, he moved to Clearwater, Florida, and continued to use and advance his knowledge of construction and reading blueprints to advance to lead foreman. While in Clearwater, Benny would host large barbecues once a month to feed many people, including the homeless. As a handy man, Benny would help people with their home repairs. Benny was kind, gentle, considerate, and a talented artist.

Benny transitioned on April 17, 2023. He was preceded by his son Antonio Hill; brothers AC, Elijak, Conny Charles, and George Haire; his sisters Marjorie, Mae Frances Anderson, and Dandie L Holems. He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, his brothers James A., Chicago, Ill., Horac, Bainbridge, Ga.; his sisters Bertha Pooler, Jacksonville, Fla., Betty Dickerson, West Palm Beach, Fla., Queen Williams Clifford, Cairo, Ga., Lucinda Sancho, Albany, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Pastor Rhunnet Haire; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Williford’s Funeral Home of Cairo, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements.
