BHS hosts tennis tournament, defeats Hardaway and Cairo

Last Wednesday, the Bainbridge High School tennis team hosted the region tournament for Region 1-AAAA teams. The Bearcats first faced off against Hardaway, while Cairo played Westover. Bainbridge and Cairo won their respective rounds, going against each other in the second round, while Hardaway and Westover were likewise pitted against each other. Bainbridge ultimately beat Cairo, with Westover beating Hardaway. According to Coach Xavier Bell, both boys and girls teams swept each match, 5-0.

The Lady Cats went on to play against Howard High School on Monday, with the results being:

#1 singles, Rylan Bland won 6-0, 6-0; #2 singles, Riley Palmer did not finish, but won the first set 6-4; #3 singles Gibbs Palmer won 6-1, 6-0; #1 doubles, Megan Springer and Caroline Maxwell won 6-0, 6-0; #2 doubles, Brooklyn Wade and Abigail Trammell won 6-0, 6-0.

The Bearcats will go up against Baldwin High School next, Wednesday, April 19, 2:00 PM. Should they win, they will host Lagrange High School Next. The Lady Cats are also set to host Starr’s Mill in the second round of state at a yet-to-be-determined date.
