Funeral services for William Gary Walden, 61, of Cairo, Ga., are at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, Ga.  Pastor Johnny H. Moore and Pastor Marc Walters will officiate.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Ga.  Mr. Walden passed away at his home on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

Active pallbearers are Richard Cooper, Andy Joiner, J.L. Rosencrantz, Michael Moore, John Whitman and Keith Lacy.  Honorary pallbearers are Todd Gainous, Tony Turner, Members of the Midway Baptist Rock of Ages Sunday School Class and the Grady County Baptist Brotherhood Association.

Mr. Walden was born on June 29, 1961, in Cairo, Ga., to the late Aline Walden.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corp.  On July 15, 2010, he married Jane Moore Walden, who survives. Gary was a self-employed life insurance agent.  He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane Moore Walden of Cairo, Ga.; children, Alacia Wall (Britt) of Moultrie, Ga., William D.  Walden of Moultrie, Ga., Ginger Spence (Austin) of Bainbridge, Ga., Christal Guy (Marty) of Donalsonville, Ga., Edward Stogner of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Greta W. Moore of Thomasville, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Dianne Moore of Cairo, Ga., Michael and Nive Moore of Cairo, Ga.; a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother and his father-in-law, Herman I. Moore.

Gary loved people, he loved life, and he loved God.  He was striving each day to learn and grow in his walk with his Lord.  He will be missed immensely.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Walden’s memory to: the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Cairo High School, 455 Fifth Street SE, Cairo, GA 39828. 

The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of Midway Baptist Church on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
