On Saturday, April 1 the non-profit organization Community United will be hosting a fundraiser in the downtown Bainbridge square all day beginning at 1:00p.m. and going until 7:00p.m. Led by Charsuede Keaton, Community United is hosting this fundraiser to raise money for a community center for teens to further assist and help the youth of Decatur County.

“The purpose of this event is to bring the community together on one accord and let the community know what our future plans are and what we want to build and accomplish with a youth center,” said Keaton. “My future plans are to open up a community center and it’s going to be focused on the youth. There’s going to be self development classes, tutoring, a game room and stuff like that.”

The event on April 1 is going to be filled with activities, food and music for families and community members of all ages to enjoy, lasting all day. Keaton and Community United are focused on putting together an event that brings everyone in the community together to not only learn about the future community center, but also bring everyone together to enjoy a day as one together.

“We’re going to have some inflatables, some games and activities such as cornhole, cup pong and things like that, music and vending and we’re also going to have a food truck,” said Keaton. “We’re thinking about doing something like $3 armbands that people can purchase for games and stuff like that to help raise more funds.”

For Keaton and Community United, the purpose of this event is to raise as much funds for the center as they can. Being built in the old “L and G” building, Community United is aiming to build a center for the youth where they can learn life skills, further expand their education, and give them an avenue for the future.

“I want to use this event to raise money and just show people what we intend to create in the building,” said Keaton. “I think the L and G building is one of the biggest buildings in the area so it’s going to take a lot of work to get it going. I’m also just trying to raise awareness and bring the community together for something everyone can enjoy.”

Come out and enjoy a day of fun, food, and community on April 1 on the square from 1:00p.m.-7:00p.m. For questions contact Charsuede Keaton at 850-350-6297.
