It was a beautiful morning on Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club as the Bainbridge High School golf team welcomed over 10 schools and 60 golfers to compete in the 22nd Annual Bearcat Invitational. Not only was the Bearcat invitational a great opportunity for the Bearcat golfers to compete with some of the best golfers across the state, but it also gave the community of Bainbridge an opportunity to come out and support the Bearcat golfers.

The Bearcat golfers had a productive day in their first home meet of the season as they placed seventh overall as a team with a score of 375. Sam Suratt led the Bearcats finishing 16 overall, shooting an 83 on the day. Cy Taunton and Dawson Cottles weren’t far behind as Taunton finished the day with a 91 and Cottles finished the day with a 92.

Regardless of the results, the Bearcat Invitational gave the Bearcat golfers an opportunity to learn, compete and find their stride as they continue to move into the heart of the season, as they are right back in action with matches against Pelham this week.

Head Coach Rex Wade was thankful to have the opportunity to host another successful Bearcat Invitational and is especially thankful for the community support each year for the Bearcat Invitational.

“It’s always great being able to play at home and having parents and members of the community be able to come out and watch and support our golfers and enjoy the day,” said Wade. “It’s a great opportunity for our golfers as well to learn and compete with some of the best golfers in the area and just continue to get better as the season progresses.”

The Bearcats will be back at home on Tuesday as they will take on Pelham before competing in the Granger Shootout on March 13 at Highlands Country Club.
