Our dear mother, Doris W. Skipper, passed away on January 25, 2023, at the age of 93.  She was met immediately by her husband of 57 years. Clayton Skipper, Jr., who journeyed on in 2004, and her granddaughter Jamie Skipper Millender.  She is survived by her five sons and their wives—David (Shirley), Terry (Beckey), Gary (Rhonda), Paul (Karen), and Ben (Heather), our adopted sister, Susan (Chuck), 10 grandchildren – Clay (Stacy), Suzie (Diana), Jon (Tammy), Tracy (Jerry), Jennifer (Mark), Bryan (Joanna), Amanda (Heath), Ashleigh, and Jacob, and 16 great-grandchildren—Matthew, Katie, Robert (Paige), Katie, Jarred, Molly, Michael Terri), Devin, Ally (Christopher), Grayson, Connor Beau, Walt, Nicholas, Harley, Maddie, Nolan, and five great-great-grandchildren, Fiona, Nora, Ambrose, Jamie Kate, Luke, her sister Dorothy, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

An exceptional wife and mother, she provided the loving home that became the foundation for generations to follow.  She, along with our father, instilled in us a sense of devotion to God, responsibility to our community, and patriotism for our nation.  She cared deeply for our family and friends alike, not due to obligation, but because who she was as a person.  These lessons live on in all of us.

A strong Christian, she was an active member of Salem Seminole Baptist and a Past Worthy Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She very much enjoyed her family, many friends, gardening, and traveling with Skip.
