Mr. William Ray Ritter, age 75, passed away Monday. January 2, 2023, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. Services for Mr. Ritter will be held at
3:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Dean will officiate. Interment will follow in Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery. Steven Ritter, Michael Ritter, Austin Ray, Shane Rowan, Jimmy Young, and Billy Mobley will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, beginning at 2:00.
William Ray Ritter was born January 5, 1947, in Bainbridge, Georgia to Vernaway Ritter and Ida Mae Strickland Ritter. He worked as a Production Supervisor for the Georgia Factory for the Blind for over 20 years. Ray enjoyed planting flowers and working in his yard. He loved attending church. Ray had a heart for small children, and they loved to be around him. Ray Ritter will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Crystal Ritter Abbott and husband, Ted Abbott, Jr. of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky; siblings, Wayne Ritter of Havana, Florida, Malcolm Ritter of Bainbridge, Jean Givens of Thomasville, and Mary Ann Green of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Andrew Ritter and wife Marissa, Daniel Kurtz, Eric Abbott, and James Abbott; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernaway and Ida Mae Strickland Ritter, and siblings, Sue, Vernon, Johnny, Tex, and Jimmy.
