Mr. Vernon Lee Ritter, age 72, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 6, at Roselawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ryan Carnes will officiate. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, October 5, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home.
Vernon Lee Ritter was born June 20, 1950, in Bainbridge to Vernaway Ritter and Ida Mae Strickland Ritter. His parents have preceded him in death. Vernon proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction as a welder. Vernon was married to Delores King Ritter. Vernon dearly loved his family. He loved to fish any and every opportunity he found. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid Georgia bulldog fan.
Vernon is survived by his wife Delores King Ritter of Bainbridge; daughters, Tabitha Ritter of Bainbridge, Leah Eubanks (Robert) of Cairo, Georgia, and Penny Evans of Stanford, Maine; and son-in-law Barry Cook of Clarksville, Tennessee. Vernon grew up in a large family. He is survived by his sibling, Jean Givens, Ray Ritter, Wayne Ritter, Malcolm Ritter, and Mary Ann Green. He loved being a grandpa to Jonathan Reid, Josie Mae Ritter, Justin Ritter, Tiffany McNease, April Prescott, Celeste McLaughlin, Destiny Minchew, Phillip Anderson, Kacie Eubanks, Emma Eubanks, and Zackery Wing. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ritter was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin Ritter, and daughter Brandy Nicole Cook.
