The second week for Decatur County Superior Court jury trials was once again very successful. The first jury trial was the case of Donald Brooks Hoskins. Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Bankston prosecuted Mr. Hoskins in a trial on May 9, 2022. The jury found Mr. Hoskins guilty on felony criminal damage to property. With the assistance of Investigator Adam Mobley from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, evidence proved that on the 24th of October 2020 Donald Hoskins did intentionally damage an exhaust pipe on the vehicle of Gerry Ceasor without his consent. Hoskins and his employee were attempting to cut the catalytic converter off the vehicle. The owner caught them in the act. Hoskins was sentenced by Judge J. Kevin Chason to 5 years to serve in the state prison system.

The second jury trial prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Moruf Oseni on May 10, 2022 was the case of John Clemons. Mr. Clemons was found guilty by the jury of possession of Methamphetamine at least 4 grams but less than 28 grams. With the assistance of Chief Investigator Mark Esquivel from Bainbridge Public Safety and the GBI Crime Lab, evidence proved that on the 27th day of November 2017 Mr. John Clemons did possess 20 grams of methamphetamine a scheduled controlled substance in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. Mr. Clemons received a sentence of 8 years to serve in the state prison system by Judge Heather H. Lanier.
