Mrs. Emma Jean Steadham Shoupe, age 94 of Griffin passed away, Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Mrs. Shoupe was born in Bainbridge, Georgia. Her parents, Joseph Edgar and Jewell Rogers Steadham, husband, Jennings Bryan (J.B.) Shoupe, and son-in-law, Robert D. Merrell all preceded her in death. She was retired from Southern Bell, a member of Highland Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, and past President of Women’s Missionary. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and for many years served as a pink lady for the hospital auxiliary. Mrs. Shoupe was a prayer warrior, especially for her family, and was ready to serve anyone in need. She was a great example of what a Christian should be for her family and others. Mrs. Shoupe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children, Ethlyn Shoupe Merrell of Newnan, Sadie Janelle Taylor of Newnan, Max and Alice Shoupe of Griffin. Her grandchildren are Jonathan Merrell and wife, Samanatha of Newnan, Anna McElwaney and husband, Matthew of Grantville, Nicki Mantuano and husband, Vince of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Brett Taylor of Belleville, Illinois, Bryan Shoupe of Draper, Utah; great grandchildren, Emery Bowlden, Whit Bowlden, Knox Merrell, Alex Mantuano, Aaron Mantuano, Landon Taylor, Layla Taylor, Evie Taylor, and Maddox Taylor; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery. Reverend Ed Galbreath will officiate.
