The annual Lights Along the River drive-through received an unwanted visitor sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning. At some point during the night, a thief stole part of the “Snowman by Campfire” light display put up by Air Care LLC.
According to Crystal Hines with the City of Bainbridge, they don’t believe this to be a malicious planned theft, and the thief can still return the lights to either the city office at 205 E Broughton St, or to Westside Bait and Tackle, located at 812 Spring Creek Rd, after hours, no questions asked.
“We do rely on the community sponsors to provide those light displays, so that we can provide a free community activity, not only for Bainbridge residents, but for people regionally,” Hines said. “So in order to be able to keep that as a free community activity, we do rely on those sponsors. In turn, it was something Air Care wanted to do as a service back to their community.”
“It’s property that belongs to us, and we just want it back,” Hines said. As of the writing of this article, the lights have not been returned.
