Lucas Wesley Rentz was born November 17, 1980, in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Phillip Gregory Rentz and Cynthia Nix Rentz. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1999, and later earned certification as an electrical technician at Bainbridge College. Lucas was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Living life to the fullest was the rule Lucas lived by. He was a free spirit and fun was his middle name. Jasmine, Caleb & Jaxon recall being allowed to stay up “a little late” to watch television with their daddy, playing ball, and enjoying the outdoors. Gadgets, in fact, anything techy or electrical, intrigued Lucas. Family was the constant that kept him moving forward even on the difficult days. For Lucas, obstacles were meant to be overcome and that he did with gusto. He loved BIG and left that impression on the hearts of his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Jasmine Liza Morales, Caleb Gregory Rentz, and Jaxon Riley Rentz, all of Bainbridge; his parents, Cindy & James Spears of Bainbridge, and Phillip & Anna Rentz of Leesburg, Ga.; his siblings, Adam & Amanda Rentz of Bainbridge, Ryan & Tayler Bare of Juneau, AK, Jay Spears of Donalsonville, and Jonathan Spears of North Carolina; his nephew, Riggs Rentz; and a host of extended family. Lucas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sonny & Betty Rentz, and his maternal grandparents, Bobby Lee Nix, Sr. and Willie Virginia Nix.
