Following a dominant 42-0 victory over the Islands Sharks last Friday night, the Bearcats guaranteed themselves a spot in the second round of the State Playoffs. They will now take on the Northwest Whitfield Bruins out of Tunnel Hill, Georgia on Friday night at home.

The Bruins and Bearcats have the same season record 8-3, with the Bearcats having a better overall region record 5-0, while the Bruins have a 4-1 record.

With the Bruins ranked #2 in Region 7, Bearcats Head Coach Jeff Littleton knows the team has their work cut out for them.

“They have a really talented Quarterback and two receivers who play Defensive Backs as well,” Littleton said.

At 6’0, 180 lbs., Owen Brooker serves as the Bruins’ Junior Quarterback, while Senior Ray Morrison and Sophomore Hudson Gray are the Defensive Backs the Bearcats have their eyes on.

With their focus narrowed in on, the Bearcats have now challenged themselves to perfect their fundamentals and technique every day during practice.

“We want to be more consistent on first downs and getting larger gains,” Littleton said. “We want to limit turnovers and create explosive plays on offense and defense.”

Practice was already paying off during last Friday’s game, when the offense had one of these explosive plays, as Deyon Bouie caught a 79-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Bo Smith with only 1:18 left in the quarter.

Littleton hopes this is only the beginning.

If the Bearcats win on Friday night, they will then host the third round of Playoffs at home against the winner of North Oconee vs. Spalding.

Tickets for the second round of Playoffs will go on sale at Bainbridge High School on Thursday morning and be sold from 8-2 p.m. both Thursday and Friday. Fans can purchase tickets all week at GoFan.co or at the gate on Friday night for cash only.

The cost is $10 for general admission. All reserve season ticket holder will need to buy a $10 ticket and present their reserve season ticket at the game.
