Julius Merkison, 75, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glen Elmore and Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Julius was born September 27, 1945 in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Alton “Joe” Merkison and Ruby Braswell Merkison. He was a graduate of Seminole County High School and a retired sales representative for Dannon Yogurt Co. He was a member of New Life at Lake Seminole Church of God and loved RVing, hunting, golfing, and fishing, especially around a crappie bed. He was a full-time RV camper for over 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bennett Merkison of Donalsonville; his children, Anthony Merkison (Shannon) of Loganville, Ga., Stephanie Little (Todd) of Naples, FLa., Steve Minter (Lisa) of Snellville, Ga, and Holly Merkison of Germany; his sister, Arna Jewel White (Wiley) of Buckhead, Ga; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Dawson of Conyers, Ga; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Julius was preceded in death by his parents; his son, DeWayne Merkison; and his siblings, R. J. Merkison, Betty Jean Dawson, and Jack Merkison.
