Located off of South Scott Street, The Nomad Nurse is currently offering the Moderna coronavirus vaccine, with the first shipment of 200 arriving this week.
“I’m allocated 500 a month,” RN Crosby Steen told the Post Searchlight.
Opening the Nomad Nurse in January of last year as a drug-testing facility, Steen initially offered COVID testing with no appointment necessary; to get the vaccine, people need to call in advance to schedule one.
“With this, I kind of want people to call me and schedule an appointment, and the reason is because I need to keep up with this to make sure we’re following up… With a COVID test, I could give you a negative and you’d be gone in five minutes, with this I need to keep a more updated record.”
The Moderna vaccine requires a second dose several weeks after the first; vaccination cards with dates will be provided.
“As long as there’s a need for the community health, for the public, I’m gonna keep doing it,” Steen said, in regards to how long he plans on offering the vaccine. “I just want to get as many people vaccinated as we can in the community.”
The Nomad Nurse is located at 535 South Scott Street in Bainbridge. For an appointment, call 229-416-4848 and ask for Steen
