Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society President Dennie Nichols updated members of the Decatur County Lions Club on the status of the animals under their care, the current shelter and progress being made towards building a desperately needed new facility. Even during the pandemic, the Humane Society Board of Directors and staff of the shelter have made great strides in getting many animals, especially dogs adopted. Cats continue to be a problem, but trapping, spaying/neutering and releasing feral cats is the most effective way of reducing the cat population.

Through hard work, generous donations and fund-raisers , the Society has reached a major milestone and is looking forward to breaking ground on the new Facility by the end of this year. As it has for the past several years, the Decatur County Lions Club presented a $250.00 check to the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society in support of its mission of “Helping the Helpless”.
