Robert Earl Barber was born February 14, 1942 in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of Leonard and Annie Mae Everett Barber. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1962. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for B52s in the Vietnam era. He moved to Jackson in 1966 and retired from Boise/Cascade in 2014. Robert was Baptist by faith.
Idle time didn’t fit into Robert’s schedule. He worked then did a little bee keeping and turkey hunting to fill in the gaps. He had a kind and compassionate spirit but with a quick wit. When a crowd gathered, laughter was a given if Robert was present. He was a jokester with a story to share that kept you in stitches.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Dorothy Barber; his children, Kemper & Angela Barber of Georgetown, TX, and Randy Barber of Columbus, MS; his brothers, James “Butch” Barber and his wife, Judy, of Brinson, Ga., Bill Barber and his wife, Connie, of Iron City, Ga., and Will Barber of Donalsonville; his grandchildren, Jered, Justin, Chris, Ashley, and Patricia; and his great-grandchildren, Emily, Mason, Samantha, Malyna, and Katana. Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
