Memorial Hospital and Manor recently received a $30,000 donation made by Port City Holding Company of First Port City Bank. The donation was made through the Georgia HEART Program, a tax credit program benefitting rural hospitals across Georgia. These donations help rural and critical access hospitals increase funding and provide care to many communities. MHM CEO Jim Lambert, and Hospital Authority Chairwoman Glennie Bench, were present as the check was presented by FPCB’s Executive Vice Presidents Marvalynn Carroll and Nancy Jernigan.
“First Port City Bank remains fully committed to being part of the solution in addressing the immediate as well as long-term needs of our community,” said Scott Ewing, President and CEO of First Port City Bank, in a statement. “We believe this donation to the Memorial Hospital and Manor through the Georgia HEART Program will help to support the goals of MHM as well as the essential medical services that are critical during this pandemic. We believe by working together we can help small businesses, non-profits, and communities recover from this pandemic and continue to prosper.”
MHM’s Director of Development Lauren Harrell shares more about “why” someone would want to participate in the GA Heart Program, “As hospitals across the world continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, our hospital has an especially critical need for resources to improve and ensure our delivery of essential medical services. The Georgia HEART program enables anyone who pays GA state income taxes to be part of the solution to this need – and at no cost. Your involvement through this tax credit program is indispensable to us, and together we can help our community thrive. We are so thankful for partners like First Port City Bank who see the need in our community and continue to answer that call.”
“On behalf of everyone at Memorial Hospital and Manor we are grateful for this most generous gift from the First Port City Bank team,” Jim Lambert said. “We can always count on their community support and their commitment to helping us continue to provide quality healthcare for all.”
