The BHS SwimCats competed in the region championships over the weekend, finishing with four first place times and the girls winning the championship.
Ramsey Matthews placed first in the 200 yard freestyle, with a time of 2:40.99; Paige Overman came in with a time 3:00.77 in the 200 yard individual medley; Maloree Inlow clocked in at 1:34.13 in the 100 yard breaststroke; and the relay of Sarah-Grace Ferrel, Viviana Schuyler, Paige Overman and Madalyn Yancey came in with a time of 5:06.64 in the 400 yard relay.
“I was very pleased with the results of the meet,” Coach Eric Conner told the Post Searchlight. “The girls are region champs and the guys placed second. I am very proud of this group of kids.” He also had words of thanks for those that have helped him and the team. “I want to thank my Assistant Coach Beth Dollar for all the help. A big shout out to Heidi Chambers and Debbie Durham for helping me run practices when I had to be quarantined. Thank you to the parents and BHS admins for being very supportive throughout the season. Most importantly, I thank God that we were even able to have a season. Many student athletes across the country weren’t so lucky.”
