Maxwell twins, Brayden and Tyler, 9, have always helped their neighbor with the lawn. Now, they are hoping to help out others with lawn work and odd jobs in order to purchase a cellphone.
“They’ve been wanting phones, but I told them that it was too expensive for me to purchase,” said mom Sarah Catherine.
That’s when the twins approached their mom about letting them work for others.
Sarah Catherine said she had the boys when she was young, so they’ve been “spoon-fed” for most of their life. However, she is proud of them for their willingness to work for what they want now.
“They know how to mop and their dad is a landscaper, so they’ve done a lot of yard work, but they’re willing to do anything; they’re beyond excited,” Sarah Catherine said. “They keep asking if anyone has called to ask them to do any jobs yet.”
Sarah Catherine said the twins aren’t just limited to mopping or yard work, she is willing to do some heavy lifting in order to help them understand the value of a dollar. For instance, she said that if a person in the elderly community needed groceries, she would gladly drive the boys to the store and help them. She also is willing to sit with the boys at someone’s home while they work, if no one else is available.
“It’s not just about phones,” she said. “The boys really want to save up for something at WalMart; that is like their favorite place in the world.”
Brayden and Tyler are available weekdays from 3-6 p.m. and available Saturday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Job prices will vary from $5-$20.
Until the twins have purchased their own phones, those interested are encouraged to contact their mother at 229-400-1137 or father at 229-400-1807.
