Dennis Wayne Day was born September 2, 1946 in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Welton and Ruby Hutto Day. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1964. He married Sharon Sheffield in 1978 and they made their home in Decatur County. Dennis was a licensed electrician and worked all over Southwest Georgia with several firms, P&B Electric, Turner Electric, Pierce Electric and Maxwell Electric, retiring from the State of Georgia. Dennis was a typical South Georgia boy. He loved fishing & fish frys, old cars, motorcycles, Sunday School and Santa Claus. He visited with folks for years dressed as Santa at Reeves Linens & Gifts, schools and churches throughout the county. He especially enjoyed the conversation when the unsuspecting adult had no idea just how Santa knew details of the naughty & nice. Dennis loved attending the AG Expo, bowling in the Men’s & Mixed Leagues and visiting the mountains/Dollywood. He worked tirelessly with Relay for Life honoring Jamie’s memory with each meeting, set up, take down and lap he walked. Dennis was an original member of the Tuesday Night Men’s Group.
