Larry Eugene Barber was born June 18, 1946 in Bainbridge, Georgia. The son of Thurman Barber and Annie Murl Josey Barber, he spent most of his life in Decatur County. Larry loved farming and worked for Glenn Heard Farms and farming for Terrell Scott. He also ran a u-pick vegetable business. His main passion was being a cowboy. He was the true definition of a cowboy; saddle-up, boots on, let’s ride! He helped bring “the cowboy way” to Decatur County, working avidly with the Bainbridge Trail Blazers. He was one of the founding members. Larry was a man’s man. He would give you the shirt off his back, always ready to help. Fishing and netting were his other passions. He would share his catch by holding an annual fish fry at the Bainbridge Boat Basin.
Larry Eugene Barber is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kemmie Plunkett Barber; his daughter Brandy Daniels (Stevie); granddaughter, Lindsey ‘George’ Sandifier (Lucas); great-granddaughter, Grace ‘Slim’; and father, Thurman Barber. He is survived by his adopted cowboy son, Steve Enfinger; a host of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Murl Barber and brother, Jerome Barber.
