Gene Kent Maxwell was born June 5, 1958 in Grady County, Ga., the son of Kenneth and Flossie Bynum Maxwell. Gene moved to Attapulgus 18 years ago and retired as a foreman at BASF.
Gene loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known to send simple text messages to all of them as a way of encouragement or just to brighten their day. He was a certified “mama’s baby” and that seemed to work well for him through the years. Gene always kept busy tinkering with something but always made it in front of the television for a football game or NASCAR race.
Survivors include his children, Angel & Matthew Leggett of Alabama, Kevin & Jennifer Maxwell of Climax, and James Maxwell of Bainbridge ; his grandchildren Katelyn, Payten, Kyle, Annalisa, Alaina, Savannah, Malia, Bristol and AJ; his mother Flossie Bynum Maxwell; four sisters and two brothers. Gene was preceded in death by his father.
