The only word to describe the Bearcats’ wide receivers this year is deep, according to Coach Blake Cecil.

“I feel like we have about eight or nine receivers that are really stepping up and can help us at any given time on Friday nights,” he said. “That’s really something that’s going to help us in the long run.”

Cecil said this depth is so important, because when guys get tired and drop off, he can put someone in who is energized and ready to go.

“It’s really going to help throughout the games and later in the season,” he said.

When it comes to practicing, Cecil said he has really helped the receivers focus on fundamentals.

“Coach Littleton preaches all the time that our fundamentals are what is going to get us through and we really try to echo that throughout practice,” he said. “We want to make sure these kids are doing right and that their fundamentals are on point.”

With their fundamentals and depth in all the right places, Cecil said he would put his receivers up against anyone in the region.

“I’m really proud of the work they put in this summer,” he said. “I feel like we’ve gotten better.”

Cecil said he has seen some of the older teammates begin to hold others accountable throughout the summer and during practices and that has been a real plus this year.

Some of the seniors to look out for, who are holding others accountable, are Tahari Tate, Caleb Lewis and Monteric Robertson. Junior wise, Cecil said Zaccheaus Chrispen and Zion Bouie are looking good. Ahmari Borden and AJ Grant are also looking impressive, according to Cecil.

Most importantly, all of them are ready to take on the opponent.

“Our kids are hungry to play some football; we are all ready to play some football,” he finished.
